Top 5 things do to in Madrid

You are planning a trip to Madrid and thinking of what to do?
Here are some of our recommendations:

1. Try chocolate con churros
No one can come to Madrid without trying Churros! It's completely impossible. Churros are a fried-dough pastry-based snack, which is normally eaten for breakfast (but you can eat it at any time of the day – I like them after a long night out) and you dip them in hot chocolate or café con leche.

2. Go to the Rastro
Every sunday and also on public holidays you can find the largest flea market of the spanish capital. The Rastro starts at 09:00 in the morning and closes around 15:00 and it is located in the historic center of Madrid – south of the Metro station "La Latina". You can find a lot of really cool bargains there: furniture, clothing, souvenirs and a lot of other things. Also the Antique shops surrounding the area of the market are open these days.

3.  Watch Flamenco
In Madrid you can see some of the best flamenco dancers performing. If you haven't been to a Flamenco show there you really missed something important on your trip to Madrid. You can see Flamenco shows in many bars and taverns in the spanish capital, In a lot of these places you can first go for having dinner and after that having some drinks and watching the show.

4. Visit the Prado
The Prado is the top cultural sight in the city and you can will find there one of the best and greatest art galleries. The workpieces of many famous artists can be seen here, such as Goya, Bosch and Rubens and as well Rembrandt and Dürer. The Prado is closed every Monday and from Tuesday to Sunday open from 9:00 until 20:00. Metro station is Atocha or Banco de España.

5. Have a trip on an open-deck bus
A tour with these busses is a great way to see the sights and famous monuments of Madrid. There are two different tours – Modern Madrid and Historic Madrid –  and both of them stop at certain sights in the city. In case you want to visit a sight, you can simply hop off the bus and later on just hop on another bus which comes around there. WHen you buy this bus ticket you get a map and some vouchers for discounts for museums, restaurants and sights. For one day the bus costs around 17,50 € and for two days around 22 €.
